Mundkur Sudhakar Shetty , A rare blend of a perfect clinician, excellent teacher and a brilliant surgeon, he graduated from the prestigious Government Medical College, Bangalore and earned his M.S (Ortho) from Bombay University. He moved to Mangalore and established himself and joined the Kasturba Medical College as Asst. Professor in 1975. He was always focused on constant learning and updating himself with latest skills and keeping abreast with latest developments in the field of orthopaedics which helped better himself, In 1980, he proceeded to Liverpool, worked with George Bentley and passed his M.Ch(Orth) with distinction. He served Kasturba Medical College for more than 32 years and He was the Professor and head of the Department of Orthopedics for a full term. After retirement, he joined Yenepoya Medical College as a Professor and rose to be the Vice Dean of this Medical College. He had trained more than 200 postgraduate students, he had an inherent thirst for teaching and was instrumental in starting the Mangalore Orthopedic Course which till date attracts students from all round the country. He was a visionary which made him start the Canara Orthopaedic Society which as of today has more than 250 members imparting fellowship, understanding and knowledge treasure to its members. He held the post of president of Karnataka Orthopaedic Association and Orthopaedic Association of South Indian States as well, and was renowned as an active member of Indian Orthopaedic Association for which he was bestowed with Life time Achievement Award.
